Hair Today Gone Tomorrow Hair Appeal - the head shave

I just wanted to post a few photos of my head shave; all hair from the day and Johnsons hair salon is being sent to make booms and mats to help with the clean up operation to mop up the oily mess threatening environmental resources, wildlife and coastline in the Gulf of Mexico.

The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is fast becoming one of the most devastating environmental disasters of our time. There is no planet B. I am grateful to all those who have supported this initiative, donated to the WWF, sent words of encouragement and engaged with my hair appeal. My thanks go to Lindsey and Johnsons hairdressers for supporting me and shaving my locks off. I have been contacted by four hairdressers (see below) who are collecting hair to send to the gulf, I appeal to hairdressers across Cardiff to get involved and sign up with Matter of Trust to help vulnerable wildlife and coastlines becoming further victims to this disaster.

So far I have raised £420 with more donations to come.

You can still sponsor me at: http://www.justgiving.com/hairappeal

The following salons are sending hair to the Gulf of Mexico to help with this appeal. Please visit them for a hair cut to help them with the collection:

All hair from the salons and my head shave is being sent to Matter of Trust http://www.matteroftrust.org/ who are co-coordinating the collection of hair, fur and tights which are needed to make booms and mats to mop up the oily mess spewing out of the sunken Deepwater Horizon oil platform which is lying on the seabed of the Gulf of Mexico. Hair and fur will typically soak up around four to six times their weight in oil.
